OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY
Kempe is firmly committed to providing a safe and healthy
workplace for all employees, contractors and visitors. We
will endeavour to address hazard control, accident
prevention and control and rehabilitation as key platforms
in our OH&S strategy. Resources will be made available to
assist compliance with all relevant legislation,
regulations, codes of practice and client OH&S requirements.
We value and ensure our success through a focus on
maintaining the individual health and well being of each of
our people and the environment, in which they work and live
by:
•
Ensuring our work culture demonstrates our value of caring
for the wellbeing of everyone we work with
targeting zero harm as the desired state
•
Empowering all our personnel to place safety above
production, profit and commercial outcomes
•
Demonstrating leadership by displaying behaviour at all
levels in the organisation that commit to excellence
in safety
•
Delivering constant improvement through planned safety
objectives, targets and performance indicators that
continually exceed expectations
OH&S is both an individual and shared responsibility of all
employees. We will not compromise safety for profit or
production. Kempe will integrate OH&S into all aspects of
the workplace by constantly improving our internal process
and maintaining our ‘SafetyMAP’ accreditation.
Every employee should encourage others to work in a manner
that is safe and healthy. We should discourage those that
may work in an unsafe manner or place themselves or others
at risk. We will actively support and promote safety in our
workplaces.
Kempe Drug and Alcohol Awareness Programme
Kempe has an alcohol and drug free
workplace policy. We have a strong commitment to provide a
safe, secure and healthy working environment for all
employees. We work towards a target of ‘zero harm’ as the
desired state. With this commitment in mind, Kempe has
developed a fit for work philosophy.
Employees are responsible for reporting
to work, fit for work. They must not be impaired in their
working capacity so as to endanger their own safety or the
safety of any other person in the workplace. This means all
employees must remain unaffected by drugs or alcohol
regardless of their status within the company. This includes
employees engaged in after hours work, on standby
availability, and whether on a casual or contract basis.
Any employee taking prescribed drugs or controlled
substances, which is likely to, or has affected their work
performance or health and safety, must consult their team
leader. The team leader may obtain specialist advice and
determine if it is necessary to place the relevant employee
temporarily on another assignment, or take other action as
appropriate.
All alleged breaches of this policy will be investigated and
if substantiated, formal disciplinary process may be taken.
